Inspired by the incredible SEEN project coordinated by Kindlehill School, we have decided to create an exhibition series within a similar format. Please see below for details on each of the exhibitions.
February 7th - 17th - Real - I was inspired by the vulnerability that the teens came to the SEEN exhibition with and also curious to see how a fully developed frontal lobe and more years of conditioning might impact the kind of photos submitted. This exhibition is open to Blue Mountains residents, adults 25+ years. The photo is to be a self portrait which reveals the Real you - the person underneath the mask, outside of your roles, who are you really? A short, no more than one paragraph blurb, is to accompany the photo, detailing the concept behind the photo.
May 1st - 12th - Grief - Grief is a taboo topic in Western society yet it is something we cannot escape. It is an equaliser in that it touches all of us, irrespective of culture, gender, age, socioeconomic background. I am very interested in what grief looks like to other people, how do we navigate it? Do we honour it, or hide from it? This photo is to be a self portrait, revealing how grief looks for you. Is it a way of dressing, is it a ritual, is it revealed on your face, or do you hide your pain? This is open to all Blue Mountains residents. A short, no more than one paragraph blurb, is to accompany the photo, detailing the concept behind the photo.
July 17th - 28th - Connection - What does connection look like to you? Is it something you crave or something readily available at your fingertips? Are you surrounded by people or do you like to fly solo? Do you prefer to connect with humans, animals or nature? I want to explore connection through the community’s eyes. Open to all Blue Mountains residents. A short, no more than one paragraph blurb, is to accompany the photo, detailing the concept behind the photo.
September 11th - 22nd - Human - In this exhibition I want to simply explore what being human means to you. This is to be a portrait of yourself or of a person/people you care about. Open to all Blue Mountains residents. A short, no more than one paragraph blurb, is to accompany the photo, detailing the concept behind the photo.
