PHOTOGRAPHY by NICOLE LANDGREBE
I see beauty in the smallest things. My eyes are immediately drawn to the vast array of natural elements that contribute to the unique environment of the Blue Mountains and beyond.
Following in my father’s footsteps, photography has been a passion of mine from a very young age. My late father, Richard, collected every gadget, camera and film recorder known to man. He treasured it all.
A few years ago, while still living in Sydney, I became a successful award-winning newborn portrait photographer, but soon after moving to the Blue Mountains, my focus was quickly drawn towards the exquisite beauty of the natural environment.
Over the last few years, the intricate patterns found in flowers, leaves, branches, tree trunks and even feathers have inspired my passion and energy into creating new art forms.
I am a newcomer to painting and have been immersing myself in a variety of different styles and mediums. I paint in miniature, using acrylics. I have combined my photography and painting to create images, and currently I am enjoying working with digital painting. I am creating a unique body of work including illustrations, landscapes and flora.
Being self-taught, I know I break 'the rules' but in doing so, I create images that are uniquely mine - composite images blending two, three, sometimes four images, blurring the conventional lines found in photography and painting.
